Rose Cottage , Mallerstang, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria CA17 4JX£395,000

Overview

A gorgeous three bedroom detached cottage situated within the Mallerstang Valley

A gorgeous three bedroom detached cottage situated within the Mallerstang Valley, a hidden gem with spectacular landscapes and local landmarks such as the Wild Boar Fell and Mallerstang Edge, beautiful bird & wildlife and the re-introduction of red squirrels.

The cottage dates back to circa 1810 and is brimming with charm and character with beautiful flagged floors, beams, wooden board doors, exposed stonework and original dairy. On the ground floor is an attractive dining room with traditional iron range, sitting room with multi-fuel stove and door to the garden, and a good sized dining kitchen with solid fuel Rayburn which heats the radiators and provides domestic hot water. Upstairs, off the landing, are three double bedrooms all with lovely views over the Mallerstang Valley. There is a family bathroom and an en-suite to the main bedroom.

On the second floor is a converted attic bedroom, a perfect sanctuary for a teenager or as an office, with velux windows and good storage space.

Outside there are gardens to the front, side and rear with the main garden being terraced and laid to lawn. The views are beautiful, especially when the stream trains pass on the Settle – Carlisle railway line behind. There is ample parking to the side of the house and plenty of scope to extend the property to create a garage or additional accommodation (subject to planning approval).
